Nothing to write about....what to do?

Today has been a bit of a blah day for me which really puts a cramp in my blogging idea's style. So I decided that because everyone likes a good picture I would enter my library of over 5,000 pictures and pull one at random to blog about. Well, here it is:

This was January 3, 2009. Tressa Lee had just gotten her key to her very first college dorm and was trying to open the door. As you can see from her face in the picture, she was not very successful. LOL Actually, we had built it up so much with pictures and videos to document this momentous occasion, that it was a hilarious let down when it took her five minutes to figure out how to open her door.

Boy am I grateful for the opportunity to have had Tressa come to BYU-Idaho with me. She really made my time there 200% better!

Well was that fun? Let's do it again!

This is a picture of half of the shoes in my closet. I was going to blog about how a girl can't get to many shoes but never did. I was trying to organize my closet when this was taken and found I could fit all my shoes in there only if I just threw them all in with out any organization. It makes for an adventure when trying to find a matching pair to go with your outfit, but hey! I've always loved a good challenge and not many people see the inner workings of my closet anyway.

While we are on the subject of shoes, here is a picture of my latest love and bargain.
I don't have many places to wear them to, but they sure are fun!

There you go. It wasn't anything exciting, but it was a blog post.

Toto, we're not in Rexburg anymore

Well I am now about a month and a half into school here at the University of Maryland-Baltimore and it is very different! I went to the orientation and realized it was different when the librarian stood up to introduce herself and said "I'm available" and no one snickered. Then the campus police stood and gave us a lecture about keeping our valuables with us and to not leave them unattended. "What? You mean I can't just leave my laptop, wallet, and cell phone out on the table in the common area, go to the bathroom, and expect to see them again when I come back? That's not how it is in Idaho." But I think that the thing that topped the cake in realizing I was in a new school didn't happen until two weeks ago. I have been going to class for a while and totally adjusting well. But two weeks ago the teacher walked in a few minutes late and welcomed us (nothing out of the ordinary) and started teaching. I unaware that class had officially started just sat there. I hadn't started taking notes. I hadn't gotten into my student focus. I was sitting there.....waiting....for the prayer to be said. When i realized my teacher hadn't forgotten to say the prayer and was in fact not ever going to say a prayer to begin class, that's when I turned to my little dog next to me and said, "Toto, we are not in Rexburg anymore."
I mean who does that?! I always thought I was pretty good at separating the church from school. LOL and It's not like it was my first day of class. I had been to many other classes before this and hadn't even hesitated to jump right into class. Why did I all of a sudden think prayers in class were a normal thing now? Oh well. It made me laugh. That's for sure. Oh and another thing that I miss about BYU-IDaho, while we are on the subject. I miss that I can pay one fee for a parking pass and then park on campus for the rest of the year. And I miss that if I didn't feel like driving I could wake up and be from my bed to my desk in class in 15 minutes flat! Here I drive 30 minutes in traffic and still have to pay AT LEAST 5 dollars every day for parking even though I already paid over 20 dollars for a student permit. And if I want that low rate of 5 dollars I have to walk 15 minutes from the furthest parking garage to class. Oh the good old days! How I miss you. OK. Enough of the complaining.
I really do love school! I am excited for the fall semester to come and for me to start my internship. Maybe I will write a little more about that next time. But here is a picture of me on my very first day of class. I am a legit Grad student/big kid now!

HELP!

When cleaning and organizing, does anyone else ever get down to a small little pile of random things and find they have run out of brain power to figure out a place to put it?

Who's Idea was this?

Some times I wonder what is going through my head when I do certain things. I mean, I know what will happen when I do it and yet still I "try and see". Here's an example for your reading pleasure:

I drive a beautiful Chrysler Sebring convertible. (notice how clean!)

Honestly not the most practical, but oh so fun! (Especially summer semesters in Rexburg when my best friend and I are cruising for guys! Wink, wink!)

(obviously winter semester hence the snow)

A little back ground on the car. It is fun but not perfect. I purchased the car used and so it was "broken in". The roof by the driver's side has a slight space between it and the windshield. It comes in handy when you are traveling across the country late at night in a blizzard and you are wishing you could throw snow in your face to keep you awake! But it's not so much fun when you want to have a conversation with the person next to you. (it's loud on the freeway)

So the beginning of the summer semester a girl in my apartment complex backed into my car making a huge dent in the driver's side door (great. one more problem with it). After driving it around like that for 4 months I finally got it fixed. (the picture above)

While it was in the shop I got to drive this:

(can you say so fun?! these pictures are for you Cat!)

Okay, okay so on with the story. I was SO excited to get my car back and even more excited to find the shop had fixed a few problems on the door that I bought the car with. (was that cheating the insurance company? I don't know.) Because of the little gap in the roof I really haven't washed my car in a long time!! Okay I'm also a little lazy. The only rinse down the poor thing gets is all natural by mother nature. SO during my joy of being reunited with my topless friend I decided I'd make sure she looked good after the cosmetic surgery she had just been through. So because it was dark and a little chilly when I got off of work last night I decided the car wash would work wonders. On the drive over there this is how the conversation I had with myself went.

-"Deborah, this probably isn't the best idea. Yeah, they fixed the door but there still is the gap in the roof. Did you forget that car washes spray your car EVERYWHERE?"

-"Yeah but it's really just a TINY gap and the rain and snow don't even come through that much. I think we'll be okay."

-"Fine go ahead but be ready for the pre-soak."

So I drove into the car wash and made sure the windows were up as far as they would go. The sprayer went over where the windshield met the roof and there wasn't even a drop. I thought I was home free. Oh no, no, no. When it went over the side of the car the flood gates were opened and water streamed in. LOL apparently when the roof on one side doesn't go down all the way the sealing on the side where the windows are is worthless.

The smart thing for me to do would have been to end it right there and drive out. But no, no. One, I paid 8 dollars for that thing and two, my car still wasn't clean! Just wet. So I put the hood on my sweatshirt up and waited, squealing every time the sprayer passed and the cold water hit my seat. I left thinking "who's Idea was this?!" But at least my car was clean. And really if you look on the bright side I got the better end of the deal. For 8 dollars my car was cleaned inside and out AND I got a shower/laugh out of it!
