I am a snoasis addict
One of my very favorite things about summer time in Rexburg is what I fondly call snowies! The thing about Rexburg is it gets bitter cold in the winter and so darn hot in the summers. The best cure for the summer heat are snowies! Oh I love them! Last week the summer hit and it was BEAUTIFUL out side. Tressa and I got together after work for homework or something and I took her to get her very first snowy. I am so proud of her.

The Lord's hand today
Well today I decided that I am going to write on my blog as often as I can about how I have seen the hand of the Lord in my life during the day. I always start out with great ambitions so we'll see how that goes. Can I just say though how grateful I am for him today. I have to make this quick because I have a paper to write, so here we go. This morning I got up and it was actually a rather relaxing morning which is very different from my usual mad dash to the door. I got to work and I was able to finish everything I needed to to. I worked on every appeal, answered every email, and returned every phone call. Can I just tell you how good that felt? Usually I, one: really don't have the motivation to work on tedious emails and appeals. And two: I don't have the time to accomplish much with constant phone calls and people walking in needing admissions counseling. But today every thing was done by 10:30 am. How does that happen?!?!
Then I got to spend some time in the temple and it was nice to see the usual faces.
I am so blessed to be able to go once a week and usually it is on Wednesday. I have missed a few Wednesdays and have had to go on Fridays or Saturdays. I have missed Wednesday and it's routine. It was so nice to see my friends and familiar faces again. There is one really chatty temple worker who I adore. We usually talk about her great grand kids in the dressing room as I am towel drying my hair. As Tressa and I were leaving today we said our good byes and she said "see ya next week!" It was a small thing but it was very comforting and made me smile. It is such a wonderful peaceful place to be and nice when you know you have friends there and are loved.
After I got home the day kind of started to go down hill. I began my math homework and lost my motivation all together.
I mean really..... when in the world am I ever going to need to use the quadratic equation to find all the factors of a given polynomial in real life? (That was a rhetorical question by the way) So I put it a side and watched Gilmore Girls. The more and more time I wasted the worse my mood got. Anyway, I was pretty down by the time I stopped to write my Communications paper. (wow what happened to this post being short?)
During the show I had been reflecting on a past experience that has given me a lot of grief and was kind of feeling like a failure.
I am some one who likes to make people happy and I was feeling like I didn't really do so well in this situation. You know when Satan gets to you sometimes. Then I couldn't really remember a situation I did do well. Well I opened my Gmail account and found a very unexpected email from a friend. He said some very sweet things and thanked me for nothing really but I appreciated it. That little note made my day ten times better and I am so grateful he was listening to the spirit when he sent it because it was just what I needed. I started thinking about it and I felt like it was heavenly father's little way of telling me that I am appreciated and do, do some good. So over all today was full of evidences of the Lord's hand. What a good day! It is so nice to know that the Lord really does know who you are and is ready to bless and lift you if you are willing to let him. That's kind of fun to think about. I'm off to write my communications paper!

For my own safety, I need a hair dresser!
Last night I decided that it is no longer safe for me to be in the bathroom. Really. Let me tell you a little story. Last month my mother sent me money to buy a new hair dryer for my birthday. I wanted it to be a really good one and I spent a very long time picking it out. I felt very good about my decision and knew that my blow dryer and I were in for many wonderful bonding moments as we got ready for school, dates, and other events. Boy was I in for a wake up call. I took it home and began using it before a date with a guy I had never gone out with before. I did my normal routine, part of which was blow drying my hair. After, when I was brushing my hair I noticed that the hair in the front of my head were a little short and looked singed. I saw way more hair then normal in my brush and started to freak out!. Yep you guessed it, I had burned my bangs right off with my evil blow dryer! Who does that?! Here are a few pictures. It wasn't so bad and I was able to cover the burned hair up but I was in panic mode when handfuls of hair started coming out.

(This isn't even a quarter of the hair I burnt! I have to pin my hair back every day now to cover it up as it grows out!)

Well last night a similar thing happened. I was getting ready for another date. (with the same boy coincidentally) And was curling my hair with a curling iron. All of a sudden a really good song came on Pandora and I started doing the chacha right there in the bathroom. What I failed to remember was that I was holding a curling iron heated to the highest setting right next to my neck. Yep, as I was shaking it like a Polaroid picture I definitely burned myself right on the neck. Oh it hurt REALLY bad! I grabbed some neosporin and put it on the burn and continued getting ready for my date with a hickey looking burn on my neck. Oh I love my life!
So I figure I either need a first aid crew on hand when I get ready, or a personal hair dresser. I am leaning toward the personal hair dresser. Or maybe for my own safely I shouldn't go out with this guy any more. ;)

Coin walks in Sexy Rexy (yep Dad, I just called it Sexy Rexy)
When I was young I remember going on coin walks with my grandpa in his neighborhood. What you did was walk to the corner and flip a coin. Depending on if you got heads or tails would tell you if you went right or left. I loved them! I thought it was a great adventure and we always had great talks. I don't remember what we talked about but I remember how much I enjoyed the talks and the time my grandpa took to pay attention to me.
Two Saturdays ago Tressa and I were working all day on our intro to theater class and were so sick of reading plays and corny scripts written by our teacher. It started raining and I was SOOOO excited. i have this umbrella that I absolutely LOVE! I never get to use it because it never rains when I am able to go outside. So Tressa and I put the books down and went for a coin walk! It was so much fun! I can't tell you how much fun I have with Tressa. Our walk was rather short because we both had blisters on our feet from the day before but we walked the streets of rexburg talking like pirates and enjoying the rain and my cute umbrella.

My Turtle swims sideways, your turtle swims upside down
Well what a weekend this has been so far! Tressa and I came down for Elizabeth's graduation. She graduated from U of U! My parents and Rachel came out for the graduation as well and it was sooo good to see them. It was really exciting to go and see Liz Graduate. It made me really excited for my graduation in TWO years. Liz's mother-in-law came and that was pretty exciting too. We love her and it is always fun to see her. Here are some pictures from the day. By the time it was over I was so sick of the graduation song and our family's version. Ever since I graduated from high school we have had our own version of the graduation song taught to us by Eldon and we have sung it at every graduation during the march since. It goes like this (to the tune of the graduation march) My turtle swims sideways, your turtle swims upside down. My turtle swims sideways! your turtle is dead. Through the graduation I wanted to cheer or yell Liz's name. Actually I wanted to bring an awesome sign for her but Mark kept telling me this was a formal event and that I couldn't. Oh well. We had fun anyway.

Be carefull, You're coming up on old maid age.......
That was the warning my Grandpa gave me about a week before my birthday. I am not sure what I am supposed to do about that but thanks for looking out for me Grandpa! My birthday was Great! I had a lot of fun. I was pampered at work with birthday signs, cakes, and flowers. Then my best friend took me out to dinner and Tressa and I went to Utah where I was given more flowers by my sweet Grandpa. Here are some pictures from all the birthday fun.
