Day 4- The people who made me who I am today.

Day 4-Your parents

I have given myself 20 minutes to write this blog. HA We'll see if I can make it. Ready......GO!

These Are my parents. They are wonderful. 'Nuff said.

There have been many time through out my life that I have thought, "MAN! how did I get so lucky to have the parents that I have!" They are stable, happy, loving, compassionate people that are not easily manipulated. (Trust me! I've tried) I know that they love me and they have been the best teachers anyone can ask for.


Introducing: Mi Madre 

She has the greatest sense of humor! When we were little and were being ornery she could could always get us to laugh just by making us look at her! ;) She is a beautiful woman and I don't know why it always worked but we would be grumpy with our heads down and she would say "Don't you look at me! Just don't do it! Don't look at me!" and we would turn our heads to look at her only to start laughing! It worked every time!

She is my biggest cheer leader! Whenever I do anything that scares me or challenges me, like try out for a play, run for student government, or go to grad school she is always there cheering me on. Seriously people sometimes she will literally do a cheer. I can always hear my mom in my head saying, "You can do it!" "You are tough! You are strong!" or one of my favorites she used to say often "You are woman! Hear you Roar!"

Like I said in past posts she taught me to have an imagination! She had the best imagination of anyone I knew when i was a kid and always encouraged us to use ours. When it would start to rain and the mothers called their kids inside she was the mother pushing us out the door to go run in the puddles. She would take us on the greatest adventures.

I've always had people tell me Deborah you are always so happy all the time. You always look on the bright side. Well, my mommy taught me how to do that.


Esta es Mi Padre:

He is probably the best father a girl could ask for. He has always worked hard to provide for his family and he does a pretty darn good job at it! I have always know that he loves me. He really does think I am the greatest.  

I love that my daddy tries to fix everything he can to save money. He is actually pretty good at it to! There are so many things that he can fix and that he knows. He is so so smart.

My daddy is a very strong man! He is determined. Last year he decided to lose weight and he lost 91 pounds! I am proud of him! A few weeks ago he was having a conversation with a family friend about his childhood. He grew up in a broken home in Las Vegas. It could be described as a rough background. Other people who grew up in similar situations have gotten involved in drugs, divorced, or turned to unproductive means to cope. Not my dad. He made choices to break the cycle and do much better. As I listened to him talk to our friends about his decision to have a successful marriage despite his parent's example I was over come with how lucky I am. I have one strong daddy.

He is a very compassionate man. He will help just about anyone and do almost anything. Both of my parents have taught me to serve others because we love them. They are the greatest examples. This guy has taught me that I need to continually strive to be the best me I can be. Although I fall short many times of that goal not only is he there to pick me up but he continues to encourage me to keep trying.

Tears are coming to my eyes at the moment because I am reminded about how my parents have seen me at my worst. They know my imperfections and all of my weaknesses and they still adore me just the same. What a blessing it is that when you are at your lowest lows to be able to go home and have two parents who will hold you up and love you even more. I am one very lucky girl!
